Legal Services Administrator (Private Client)

Our rapidly growing business is looking for a full-time Legal Services Administrator to join our successful Private Client Legal Team based in our Sheffield branch.

The Principals of Universal started in private practice over twenty years ago and have helped thousands of clients across the country to protect their families. Today they operate a multi-disciplinary practice that brings the skills of Solicitors, Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisors and Chartered Financial Planners together under one roof to provide a holistic range of traditional and specialist estate and tax planning solutions to clients nationwide.

Purpose of Role

You will be the office based support to a field based advisor and will be responsible for a caseload of administrative work in our Private Client Team that requires a good knowledge and understanding of legal terms, documents and procedures. You will draft a variety of legal documents in accordance with the client’s specific requirements as instructed by the field based advisor. You will be responsible for managing your caseload, maintaining regular communication with clients and keeping them informed of progress and ensuring that their matter is progressed swiftly and efficiently. With the help of a junior assistant you will ensure that your assigned workflows are managed efficiently and accurately in a timely manner.

We will invest in your continuous professional development and you must be willing to embark on further training and development and commit to personal study time to achieve additional role specific qualifications. Our in-house Universal Academy provides a structured platform for both internal and external training programmes that enable you to progress along your chosen career path.

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday 09:00hrs – 17:30hrs.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a genuine interest in private client work.

  • You will have previous experience gained from working in a Private Client environment drafting Wills, Discretionary Will Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney etc.

  • Preferably educated to degree level with a keen interest in law.

  • A spirit of co-operation and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are essential including the ability to relate to people at all levels.

  • Excellent Literacy (and Numeracy) skills.

  • Ability to effectively prioritise, excellent organisation and administrative ability.

  • Ability to use initiative and to work well under pressure and to deadlines.

  • An experienced user of Microsoft windows, word and outlook etc at basic or intermediate level.

  • A good team player who is willing to learn from and teach others and share ideas.

  • A professional telephone manner and the ability to take and act on messages effectively and efficiently.

  • Ability to multi-task a wide range of professional duties.

  • Personable, but professional.

  • The flexibility to work outside normal office hours may be required from time to time.

  • The ability to recognise the importance of and deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.

  • The ability to supervise your assistant and delegate appropriate tasks to them.
